The Johnson’s followed God’s call to Guatemala in August of 2008.  As they worked and lived among the people of Magdalena and Buena Vista, the depth of certain issues in the villages came to light. Since then, they began praying for God to begin a ministry to the boys, allowing them to address these deep issues before they became men. Eventually, God began to shape a vision that would soon become the Buena Vista Sports Academy for Boys.  After 10 years in Guatemala, and planting another academy in Honduras, they are currently in transition to West Africa.

Brock’s professional background is in the business side of professional sports both as an NFL executive and sports agent – which admittedly almost ruined him! He feels blessed to now be coaching/teaching boys who are far from the hoopla and self-absorption of professional sports. The Johnson family has always served together at BVSA.  Brock and Kerrie oversee the ministry, including day-to-day operations, training new missionaries, and pioneering new academy plants. But their hearts are in the mission field, where they prefer to be sharing the gospel and discipling cross-culturally.  They have four children.  Madi (22) has since returned to the U.S., and is now a 2nd grade teacher in Jacksonville, FL.  Brooke (21), was married to Matt Rolfe in December 2018, and they are currently in transition to the mission field.  Jake (18) has returned to the U.S., and is attending Jacksonville University on a soccer scholarship.  Luciana Andrea (6) keeps us all on our toes, and is excited to move to Africa!
